NOTES:

Colors have different shades, for example:
  • Dark green
  • Light green
  • Bright green
If you are not exactly sure about what color is the one you are describing, you can use the suffix "ish", for example:
  • Reddish
  • Purplish
You can also combine two colors and say for example:
  • Reddish orange
  • Greenish blue
If you add the letter "y" at the end of the word, it means it is part of the color, for example:
  • Greeny brown that is the same as saying: Greenish brown
You should know there is a difference between saying "pinky red" and "redy pink", the first color mentioned is always stronger or more important. So if you say redy pink, the color is more red than pink.

For examples:

  • My mother's dress is red.

  • The green scarf is my brother's.

  • Blue is the color of my father's pants.

  • The clouds are white.

  • The black shoes are of my nephew's.

  • Yellow is the color of the sun.

  • My sweater is orange.

  • I would like to buy a pink coat.

  • Brown is the color of that girl's hair.

  • The ball is reddish orange.

  • I want to buy a purplish blue carpet.

  • The rock star has pinky red hair.
